Headway Shropshire have produced their first Calendar ready for 2017. Each page features an amazing recipe for you to cook each month. There is something for everyone from a warm Pumpkin Soup to Stuffed Chicken Breast or Lamb Kofte followed by Chocolate Orange Bread and Butter Pudding.
Calendars can be purchased direct from our Headway Shropshire Office in Shrewsbury for just £5. All money will be used to provide activities for our clients in our Rehabilitation Centre.
You can also find the calendar in the Charity Christmas Card Shop at St Mary's Church in Shrewsbury, which opens on Friday 21st October until the start of December, the shop is open 10.15am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. The shop will also stock a great range of Headway Shropshire Christmas Cards. Our team will be volunteering on Monday afternoons so why not pop in and say hello.

Headway Shropshire has been approached by Birmingham University to ask
if we could make you aware of a research project that they are presently
undertaking.
They are developing a questionnaire about the spouse’s/partner’s experience of what happens to relationships after brain injury (e.g. traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumour). The purpose of taking part and completing the questionnaire, is that it can be used to study more effectively what happens to relationships after brain injury.
We have agreed to help the university by making those of you who fit the criteria aware of this research, thereby allowing you the opportunity to take part in it, if you wish.
To be able to take part you need to answer ‘yes’ to the following questions:
· Are you a husband, wife or partner of someone who has suffered a traumatic brain injury in the last 10 years?
· Did your husband, wife or partner have a stay in hospital for at least a week because of the brain injury?
· Did you live with your husband, wife or partner for at least 1 year before their injury?
· Are you still living with your husband, wife or partner?
· Are you at least 18 years of age?
· Are you able to fill in a questionnaires written in English?
If you fit the criteria and would like to take part in the survey or would like more information about the research, then please contact:
Natasha Yasmin at NXY428@student.bham.ac.uk Or Gerry Riley at g.a.riley@bham.ac.uk
who are conducting the research.
Natasha will also be attending the next carers group meeting on the 15th September 2016 6.00pm – 7.30pm to talk and explain more about the research. Any carer is welcomed to attend this meeting. If you are interested in coming please let Jamie Jordon-Bailey know by telephoning 01743 365565 or emailing outreach@headwayshropshire.org.uk.
Headway Shropshire would like to thank the volunteers from Interserve Telford that helped to complete our garden ready for our Summer Fair. The whole team worked really hard to paint the fences, flower beds, bird feeder and sun dial. Due to the recent weather being perfect for weeds our newly planted vegetable and herb beds needed some care and attention. The bank adjacent to the path has now been laid with new turf and some climbers have been planted at the top which will cover the wire fence over time. Our clients were also treated to a wonderful selection of sandwich and cakes which was kindly provided by the team.
Please come and join Headway Shropshire for our annual Summer Fair, everyone is welcome.
